Valtra presented a global premiere during SkogsElmia. It was a forest version of the new High Tech 4.
“The forestry equipment was mounted on it a few days before the fair,” explains Per Wretblad of Lantmännen Maskin, which represents Valtra in Sweden.
The tractors are basically the A series equipped with a new type of gearbox. Instead of 12 mechanical gears, this version has power shift with 16 electric gears.
“This is the first time the tractor is being exhibited at a trade fair with this gearbox,” Wretblad says.
The forestry version’s features include belly plates, a steel fuel tank instead of a plastic one, lamp guards, rear window grommet to run the crane cables into the cab, and diagonal tyres. The last-mentioned need explaining.
“Diagonal tyres have stronger sides and are more durable in the forest than radial tyres,” says Wretblad.
