Digital transformation in the wood industry with SAP Business One

The client: a company with a solid history in the wood industry, specialising in bespoke windows. After some challenging years and an acquisition in 2019, under the leadership of a new CEO, they have returned to profitability and started their journey towards digital transformation.

After facing financial challenges and then being acquired in 2019, the client needed to reassess its business and seek new ways to remain competitive. While digital transformation can feel overwhelming, especially for companies with deep traditions, SAP Business One proved to be a solution that combined power and ease of use.

The client, with a long tradition of craftsmanship and complex processes for creating bespoke windows, faced the challenge of modernising their business without losing the trust of their valuable employees. With many components in each window and a workforce unaccustomed to technological change, implementing a new system was a significant challenge.
With SAP Business One and the support of our consulting team, who were present during and after the implementation, the client was able to successfully navigate the waters of digitalisation. This transition has not only improved internal processes but also played a crucial role in the company's financial turnaround.

World-class quality: With SAP Business One, the customer can ensure that windows are produced to specification, guaranteeing the highest quality and compliance with customer requirements.

End-to-end solution: By consolidating the entire company's operations in SAP Business One, the customer has a seamless solution from the production floor to the finance department. A total "End-2-End" solution ensures unified insight and control over the entire business.

Precision in delivery: SAP Business One gives the customer a complete overview of the supply chain, ensuring that window deliveries are on time, every time. No building owner has to wait for their high-quality products.

Data-driven decisions: Through in-depth analyses and reports from SAP Business One, the customer can now make decisions based on real-time data and historical trends, strengthening their strategic planning.

MRP benefits: By leveraging Material Requirements Planning (MRP) within SBO, Snidex can now seamlessly predict and plan for material needs and production, minimising waste and optimising resource use.

Scalability and efficiency: SAP Business One is not just a current tool for the customer. It is a platform for the future. With SBO, customers can continue their growth trajectory, manage increased demand, and scale their business without the need to significantly increase staffing levels.

Optimised Business: A journey to success with SAP Business One

Through the SAP Business One implementation of one of our customers, we have effectively brought together their inventory and purchase control, financial management and distribution operations. By integrating processes and data, we have helped them optimise inventory management, improve production flows and increase insights into business performance, resulting in increased efficiency and reduced costs.

A high-growth company that has almost quadrupled its turnover in two years. With such growth, innovative business solutions are needed as a foundation for future growth plans.
Fragmented inventory management: SAP Business One has helped bring together different aspects of the business, resulting in better inventory visibility, reduced inventory costs and improved ability to respond to demand.
By implementing SAP Business One, the customer has been able to automate and streamline multiple work processes, reducing the risk of errors and freeing up time for more value-added tasks.

Improved inventory management: Using SAP Business One, the customer has a real-time overview of its inventory status. This has led to better inventory optimisation, reduced risk of over- or understocking, and faster processing of orders.

One system - multiple solutions: By integrating multiple standalone systems into a single hub - SAP Business One - the customer now has a unified platform where inventory management, accounting and other key processes can now be seamlessly managed and coordinated, resulting in a much more efficient operation.

Increased customer satisfaction: By having access to real-time information on product availability and delivery times, customers are able to provide more accurate and reliable answers. This has resulted in increased customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Better decision-making: With the ability to generate customised reports and analyses from SAP Business One, customers can now make decisions based on facts and insights. This has helped to optimise their business strategies and operational decisions.

Scalability for growth: SAP Business One offers a scalable platform that can adapt to the future growth needs of customers. This flexibility has enabled them to handle increased demand and expand their business smoothly.

IoT solution for predictive maintenance: Increased reliability and cost savings

By utilising IoT sensors and intelligent predictive models, the customer has obtained an innovative IOT solution for predictive maintenance. Through early detection of anomalies, they can plan maintenance and avoid costly interruptions, while increasing service quality and reliability for travellers.

The customer's challenge was that unexpected train cancellations led to high compensation costs and reduced customer satisfaction. The disruptions also resulted in increased maintenance and repair costs, especially when equipment had to be replaced at the site of the disruption - often in remote areas and difficult environments.

Using IoT data with intelligent predictive modelling enabled early anomaly detection and thus the ability to predict maintenance needs before problems arise. This meant that instead of reacting to emergency corrective maintenance, the customer can now focus on proactively addressing potential problems. By analysing real-time data, the company's technicians can identify exactly which parts required maintenance and plan these interventions effectively.

The result:

  • Reduced maintenance and repair costs
  • Increased customer satisfaction
  • Reduced compensation costs (to customers)
  • More effective resource planning
  • Better understanding of your equipment and more effective maintenance planning.
