SAAB - Innovative solutions for a safe and sustainable future
In a world where safety and sustainability are of utmost importance, Saab stands out as a central player in the defense industry. With a comprehensive portfolio of products, services and solutions ranging from military defense to civil security, the company serves governments, agencies and businesses worldwide.

Kristofer Ternstedt, CPO and Head of Group Procurement at Saab, shares the company's commitment to innovation and sustainability, as well as the challenges that characterize today's global supply chains. Saab's long tradition of delivering advanced defense solutions is deeply rooted in a commitment to sustainability.

Our goal is to create a safer world through our products, while respecting the planet's boundaries. Sustainability is not just a buzzword for us; it is a central part of our business strategy. We integrate sustainability aspects in every step of our business and strive to minimize our environmental impact. We also encourage our suppliers to do the same, says Kristofer.

The importance of strong partnerships

Recent global challenges have underlined the importance of strong partnerships. For Saab, it's about building supply chains that are both efficient and resilient.

To ensure that our supply chains are sustainable, we need to collaborate with companies that share our values. Sustainability and social responsibility are decisive criteria for us, in addition to price and quality, Kristofer continues.

Future supply chains

In order to deliver high-quality products regardless of external factors, Saab is working to build a more robust and local supply chain.

– We have seen how global crises, such as the pandemic and geopolitical tensions, have affected our business. Therefore, it is important to understand the entire supply chain of the raw material and invest in local solutions as well as diversify our supplier base. By investing in our own production and collaborating with local actors, we can create a more stable and sustainable business, explains Kristofer.

A platform for dialogue and collaboration

Elmia Subcontractor, one of Sweden's largest fairs for subcontractors, is an important platform for dialogue and collaboration within the industry.

– The fair gives us a fantastic opportunity to be seen and discuss our needs and requirements. With this year's theme "Navigating Change Together", I hope that the fair will inspire collaboration and long-term relationships within the industry, Kristofer concludes.
