Smart and safe industry – Combitech's focus on Elmia Subcontractor

– Smart and safe industry is one of our focus areas. We work for a smart and resilient society where industry and defense are extremely important for it to work, says Michael Blomqvist, concept lead smart industry.

The survey "Smart and secure industry 2024" which Demoskop carried out on behalf of Combitech, shows that many SME companies are vulnerable when it comes to cyber security.

– This is a huge area where new rules, directives and threats constantly appear. But with Combitech's background and expertise, we have every opportunity to help, says Michael.

Digitization – a prerequisite for competitiveness

On the positive side, the report shows that 76 percent of the participating industrial companies are actively working with digitization.

–  It is a strength and a prerequisite for Swedish industry to maintain its competitiveness. But digitization usually takes place in small, separate islands through different systems and different machine suppliers. It's only when you get everything connected that you really create digitization, and here we can help build the whole, says Michael.

Important to have a digitization plan

The survey "Smart and safe industry 2024" also shows that fully 65 percent of industrial companies lack a digitization strategy and that many see challenges both with competence supply and competence reinforcement.

– You need to have a plan for optimizing your digitization work. We also see how many smaller companies do not have the muscle to hire or further train their staff in this area. But this is something that is needed to deal with today's challenges and future-proof the business, says Michael.
