New season of TIMBERSPORTS®: Highlights in Jönköping and Milan
On 7 June 2025, Elmia Wood will host one of the year's most spectacular competitions in the extreme sport TIMBERSPORTS®: the Nordic Championships. The season will kick off with a bang as the Nordic region's top athletes compete in all six disciplines of the sport - three with an axe, two with a chainsaw and one with a handsaw.

The competition serves not only as a spectacular season opener but also as a qualifier for the World Championships in Milan, where top Swedish athletes Ferry Svan and Emil Hansson are expected to fight for the coveted spot. The winner of the Pro class will qualify to represent Sweden at the individual World Championships in Milan, 24-25 October, while the silver medallist will have the chance to compete in the World Championships team competition.

Visitors to Elmia Wood will have the chance to experience an intense and action-loaded competition where every hundredth of a second can be decisive.

In recent years, Ferry Svan and Emil Hansson have competed for the title of Nordic champion and last year it was Svan who drew the longest straw.

- It will be a great start to the season with the Nordic Championships at Elmia Wood and my goal is to win the gold medal again this year. A tough battle awaits where the smallest hundredth can be decisive, so precision will be the key, says Ferry Svan and continues:
- 2024 was a strong year for me, but I am far from satisfied. This year my aim is to qualify for the World Championships again and once there, to reach the podium.

Last year, Sweden proved that the country has become one of the world's leaders in the extreme sport of TIMBERSPORTS®. Ferry Svan took home a strong fourth place at the individual World Championships and the national team broke the Nordic record and finished seventh in the team World Championships. In addition, Svan won a silver medal in the European Trophy. Despite the successes, the Swedes are far from satisfied, and have their sights set on challenging the absolute top at the World Championships in Milan.

- This year we are aiming even higher. As a team, we have proven that we can deliver times under the minute, and then we threaten the top. I think the big nations feel that we are breathing down their necks and they know that they cannot relax against Sweden, says Calle Svadling, captain of the Swedish national team.

In addition to the championship, STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® is offering exciting shows every day of the fair, where visitors can experience power, precision and skill.

Stay tuned - the schedules will be posted here soon.
